We offer self check-in with a secure keypad entry. You'll receive the access code and detailed arrival instructions through Airbnb messaging the day before your arrival. No need to coordinate meeting times—arrive when you're ready after 4 PM.
Yes, we're happy to accommodate early check-in or late check-out when possible. It depends on the bookings before and after yours. Message us at least 24 hours in advance, and we'll let you know if it's available.
If you arrive before check-in time and the property isn't ready yet, we unfortunately don't have a separate luggage storage area. However, you could explore nearby Boulder Creek or one of the state parks while you wait. Contact us if you need suggestions.
The Crow's Nest comfortably sleeps up to 12 guests. We have 5 bedrooms with a total of 11 beds, so everyone gets a real bed—no one has to sleep on the couch!

The ground floor bedrooms have direct deck access, the main level has the common areas, and the upper loft has additional sleeping space with an office area. Fire pit use depends on current fire conditions and any county restrictions in effect. During high fire danger periods (typically late summer/fall), outdoor fires may be prohibited. We'll inform you of any restrictions before and during your stay.

The location is perfect for outdoor enthusiasts! Within 20-30 minutes you can reach Big Basin Redwoods, Henry Cowell Redwoods, Castle Rock State Park, and many hiking trails. While there aren't trails directly from the property, several excellent state parks are just a short drive away. Henry Cowell and Fall Creek are about 12-15 minutes, and Big Basin is about 20 minutes. We have detailed trail guides on our website.
Yes! We have fast, reliable WiFi throughout the property. The network name and password are provided in the welcome information. It's suitable for streaming, video calls, and remote work.
Great news—we have excellent cell coverage at the house and along the main roads from Santa Cruz and the Bay Area. You won't have the connectivity issues that some mountain properties experience. You may lose signal on some deeper forest trails, so download offline maps for hiking.

San Jose is approximately 40-45 minutes away, and the broader Bay Area (San Francisco, Oakland) is about 1-1.5 hours depending on traffic. We're close enough for a weekend escape but far enough to feel like you've gotten away.

The Santa Cruz Mountains, like much of California, can have elevated fire risk during dry seasons. We monitor conditions closely and follow all local fire safety regulations. Fire pit use may be restricted during high-risk periods. The property has defensible space and follows CalFire guidelines.
Boulder Creek enjoys a mild climate year-round. Summers are warm but cooler than the valley (typically 70s-80s°F). Fall is beautiful with mild temperatures. Winters are cool and rainy (40s-50s°F). Spring brings wildflowers and comfortable temperatures. The redwood canopy keeps things cooler in summer.

Snow is extremely rare at this elevation. We might see a light dusting once every few years, but it doesn't accumulate. Winter weather is primarily rain. The roads remain accessible year-round.
Layers are key! Even in summer, mornings and evenings can be cool under the redwoods. Bring comfortable walking shoes for trails, a light jacket for evenings, and warmer layers in fall/winter. Don't forget swimsuits for the hot tub and beach!
